Nissan Primera Door Lock Problems

I have removed the drivers side seat in order to remove some of the door trim to get at the locking mechanism. The drivers side door fails to lock when the remote key is pressed. I can hear the actuator operating in the door lock assembly but not actually locking the door.

I am unable to unlock the drivers side door to my nissan patrol 2003.

I bought a new nissan door assembly unit and it appears to be not moving freely. It is jammed and i cant open it using the key door handles from inside or outside.
