When they do happen they may be associated with intracranial hemorrhages traumatic optic neuropathy and csf leakage into the orbit. The gold standard for diagnosis of an orbital roof fracture is thin cut coronal ct scanning of the face orbits. Orbital blowout fractures are usually the result of a direct blow to the orbit which causes a sudden increase in intraorbital pressure.
